Happy Halloween!

All in all, it was a fairly lame turnout (only 16 kids this year - 13 of whom were actually in costumes), but the jack o' lantern turned out nicely (Go Sox! - Maybe a picture or two turned out), and dinner was the traditional autumnal fare.
This year, I decided on a chicken crockpot stew (boneless chicken breast, a bit of ham, cabbage, turnips, carrots, onion, some sage and rosemary from the garden, chicken broth) and kasha pilaf. I made the standard Fannie Farmer banana bread for dessert, but we ended up filling up on candy, instead.

In case you're interested, we were visited upon by:

-Spiderman
-2 angels
-3 ninjas
-3 skeletons (one was a glow in the dark one, the other had this cool mask that squirted blood
-3 power rangers
-3 kids who I'll call 'gangstas'
-1 one itty bitty bumble bee.

The kids who did have costumes actually had very nice ones. I was impressed. My favorites were the first angel (wings and everything), the kid with the crazy skull mask and the bumble bee.

Goodness, how this year's rushed forward. In three weeks, it's Thanksgiving. Wow.
