The view from my front stoop this morning at about one o'clock.

Had such high hopes for a wild rain storm and gale-force winds. Only got a fresh breeze, though, and some heat lightning. Would that I could have stayed out on the steps all night, however, that sort of thing isn't very practicable in the city.

I started to like the small hours of the morning when I disrupted my sleep pattern by giving up smoking. I find that 03:00 - 05:00 is a peaceful time -- at least nobody phones me!

I was always an early riser. Even nowadays I find it much easier to get to bed early in order to rise at like 3:30 - 4:00 to work on an assignment, rather than try to stay up late at night. My brain's clearer and my writing more coherent.

What really messes me up is when I find myself up past 11:00. Never got to sleep that night until like 2:30 ish. The next morning at work, I was bumping into walls, found that I'd put in two different earrings, etc.
