"They took all the trees
Put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see 'em

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot."

Coming from a place that lost a lot of big trees due to blight, I find this to be incredibly sad.

In areas crowded with mini-mansions they had to cut the trees for the houses to fit. Unfortunate.

It's a classic libertarian conundrum, I think - growth is good, but at what point do you need to check sprawl?

It's too late over here. But I'd guess it's when they are considering a 5th lane on the highway.

Fifth lane on each side? Criminy. Driving's bad enough here with one lane on each side, can't imagine it with five.

The road-widenings here are always a source of controversy. Unfortunately, in many places they're needed as there're just too many cars here now.
