Hoop! Time to plastic up the windows. Time to maybe even turn the heat on, too. "Putting another sweater on" just isn't cutting it anymore.

Since oil's up to something extortionate like $2.39/gallon, I'm wondering about getting some insulating curtains as well. Would these be a good investment, or just overkill?

Oh no, that's not overkill. Even here where it's warm I have to bring out the heavier curtains during the winterish months. I have some heavy ones that are red, so not only do they add to the Christmas cheer, they keep the drafts at bay.

Ooh, that does sound nice. (Am thinking on whether or not Christmas red would clash with Martha-Stewart sage green walls).

My boss mentioned getting the insulating stuff at a fabric store and making my own curtains. Don't know that that'll be happening anytime soon, however. (Have 12 windows to cover).

That's a lot of windows. This could be the start of a yearly project.

A friend of mine asked me 'si je vivais dans un chateau.' (No. I actually live in a greenhouse.)

That's a lot of windows though. I wish I had that problem. Certain parts of my house are so dark!

Well, I don't get a lot of light or even air circulation, for that matter. Somerville's pretty jam-packed with houses - my next door neighbors are like 10' away from me. (Makes for some hilarious eavesdropping/seeing too much stories.)
