I spotted the first garter snake of the season this morning - ah spring!! The robins are very happy to leave the swamp and come back to the yard. (Ours overwinter.) The groundhog has opened up her burrow. I think I saw a mockingbird. I'm delighted by the red-winged blackbirds and the peepers trilling in the mire.

I haven't hear ours yet. I wonder where he is. Every year he has built a nest in my neighbours yew bush...
Could be that he's off slumming in my neighbo(u)rhood...

I am *so jealous* of your vernal pool, you know. I asked Pablo if he would let me create one in his backyard. Didn't seem so thrilled about that.
Am thinking of hitting the arboretum this weekend to get some quality red winged blackbird music time. Love them almost as much as peepers.
