Well, it has been a while, now, hasn't it? It's been kind of rough going lately, and I was so tired, so decided to take a break from things. Though am not in top shape, do feel a bit better, less tired, maybe slightly more able to get the stuff taken care of that needs to be done. We'll see.

The problem with goals is that, once one is achieved, another one needs to be set.

Unfortunately, this usually entails a couple things I'm not good at: choosing and committing.

(I know I go on a lot in this vein, but am at a juncture and am struggling a bit.)

Made a couple drastic changes to the look. First, chopped the hair off to just above chin-length. Have had three haircuts over the last six months; wasn't happy with any of them. Don't know why, but no one wanted to do what I wanted done. Finally, ended up taking matters in my own hands and saving about $40 in the process. I'm assured that the ends are even and that I'd even done a good job shaving my neck (borrowed Pablo's beard trimmer). Uneven ends are never really a big concern of mine, as the curls hide mistakes well.

Since the hair was altogether too blonde for this time of year, hennaed it as well. Went two shades darker instead of the normal one. The contrast is greater than usual, yes, but the color suits me.

I look like a flapper now, especially when I wear a beret. Makes me smile when I catch a reflection. Haven't taken pleasure in my reflection in a while.

There's so much to get done:

Get the savings stuff squared away. I do need money, after all. This is turning out to be more complicated than I'd originally thought.

Find new health insurance. I'm not getting COBRA, as it's absolutely extortionate.
My knee's taken a turn for the worse and absolutely has to get looked at/worked over (not to mention the standing appointments with the shrink...the guy-know...the dentist). Besides, there's that new law in effect that'll have an impact on my taxes if I don't find some sort of insurance.

Start packing. I'm staying on Winter Hill for a few more weeks, as there was just no way I could get everything done by September First. I look around at the seven years of accumulated Stuff and think, Oh God, where do I even begin?

Talk to Tutoring and sign up for classes. I had to throw the courses, as I just couldn't function well enough to get work turned in. I don't know if I'm more upset at myself for not asking for more help or for letting work (and life in general) get to me the way it did.

Anyway, this stuff all needs to get taken care of and this is why I quit the job (aside from the lack of fulfillment, pay, respect, competent management, etc). Hopefully I'll right myself and then be able to move onward towards other things.
