On my walk back from getting lunch today, I saw a dollar bill mixed in with some fallen leaves in the street. Didn't pick it up, though. Figured someone else could use it more than me.

  1. Gasp. Where is your entrepreneurial spirit?

  2. It's busy collecting pennies to make dollar. (In reality, I was feeling pretty down and out and, though finding the dollar lifted the spirits some, I didn't feel like I deserved it.)

  3. I'm afraid to pick up money on the street. I always think a hidden camera is following me and I'll be the laugh of the week on a reality show.

  4. There is a restaurant in the North End (our Eye-talian quarter) where they've a quarter glued to the floor near a table. People fall for the ruse all the time.

Having had a few seconds of my Fifteen minutes used up on a reality show - I'd say not to worry about it. People's attention spans are roughly the same length as that of a common gnat. You'd be made fun of one morning at work and that'd be it.

  6. As for picking up stuff in the street - part of my walk takes me through an industrial area and past a bunch of chop-shops and junkyards. I'm always bring cool (to me) stuff into work. Am particularly fond of hubcaps: call them "objets trouves." My colleagues call me Sanford.

(Snort - the head of my division, who I think I freak out, tells me I have a "unique vision.")
